FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin Fire Department (FFD) recently conducted ice rescue training during last week’s winter weather.

A-Shift and B-Shift took advantage of the colder conditions to conduct ice rescue training, sharpening their skills and ensuring they are prepared to respond safely and effectively to emergencies on frozen waterways.

FFD reminds residents that no ice is ever truly safe, especially when temperatures rise and then fall as they have been. Ice strength can change rapidly and unpredictably.

Use extreme caution and avoid venturing onto frozen ponds, lakes, or streams.
